The Beginning of My Crochet Journey
My very first crochet memory wasn’t about crocheting at all — it was about scribbling on my mom’s crochet notebooks with a red pen. Today I want to tell you how those little doodles became the beginning of my story with yarn… And how you can start your own crochet journal full of memories too.
This morning, while walking in the park, I started thinking about how my crochet journey began. It wasn’t something that happened overnight — honestly, I don’t even remember the first time I held a hook.
But what I do know, because my mom told me many times, is that I used to love looking through her crochet notebooks. She had several red ones, filled with notes, stitch diagrams, and even tiny swatches glued inside. And there I was — little me with a red pen — “helping” her… Though in reality, I was just doodling all over her pages. 😂 My mom never scolded me for that, by the way.
Rediscovering Crochet Later
Years later, when I decided to learn crochet for real, I looked back at those notebooks and thought: “Oh my goodness, what have I done!” They were full of scribbles, but I also felt a deep tenderness. I think those doodles were, without me knowing it, my very first connection to the world of crochet.

Creating My Own Crochet Journal
Now I like to imagine creating my own crochet notebooks — filled with designs, favorite stitches, sketches, and little samples. I don’t have a daughter, but who knows… Maybe one day it could become a tiny treasure for a granddaughter or someone special. And in a world where everything is digital, a handmade notebook feels like a precious gift for those who understand the real meaning of handmade.
